Beer Battered Fish and Spicy Oven Fries

Try our Classic Beer Battered Fish tonight, accompanied by our spicy oven fries. Here's the recipe, ENJOY :)

BEER BATTERED FISH
Recipe:
1-1 1/2 lbs Fish (haddock or halibut suggested)
1 cup Beer Batter mix by Orange Crate
¾ cup beer (ale or lager)
Preheat oil in a deep fryer to 350ºF (use candy / deep frying thermometer if required)
Mix dry batter mixture & beer in a bowl. Stir in additional beer if the batter is too thick.
Dip the fish in the batter (batter should lightly coat entire fillet).  Fry fish in the deep fryer until golden brown. Remove the deep fryer basket and place fish on paper towel to absorb excess oil.

Sprinkle with salt to taste. Serve with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.

Tip: For an extra taste of the ocean, use one of Orange Crates 5 different flavoured sea salts.


SPICY OVEN FRIES
Recipe: Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Use a French Fry cutter or cut 5-6 medium potatoes into wedges. Mix together 1 tbsp (15 ml) extra virgin Olive Oil, 1/3 cup (83 ml) grated parmesan cheese and 1 tbsp (15 ml) Orange Crate  Spicy Oven Fries Seasoning. Cover baking sheet with parchment paper and spread potatoes evenly.  Bake for 30-40 minutes turning every 10 minutes.  Bake until golden.  Do not allow fries to overcook.

Tip: For Crispy Fries, turn broiler on for five minutes.

Butter Chicken from Orange Crate

Butter Chicken recipe from Orange Crate - if your eyes could chew - they would be eating the screen!!!

Butter Chicken Spice from Orange Crate

Ingredients
2 tbsp (30g) Orange Crate Tandoori Chicken Spice (#OC10320)
1 lb diced boneless skinless chicken breast
2 tbsp (30g) Salted Butter
½ cup finely chopped onion
1 cup 10% cream
Preheat skillet on medium heat and melt 2 tbsp (30ml) Salted Butter.  Add ½ cup (125g) onion finely chopped and sauté until softened.  Add 1 lb (16oz) diced boneless & skinless chicken breast and fry for 10 minutes until lightly browned.  Add 2 tbsp (30g) Orange Crate Butter Chicken Spice to chicken and stir, fry for approximately 10 minutes.  Add 1 cup (250ml) 10% Cream, stir together and reduce heat to low.  Cook for a final 10 minutes or until sauce thickens.  Serve with rice or naan bread. Packaging yields 1 serving for 4 people.

Turkey Stuffing and Thanksgiving!

         Wishing you a "Happy Thanksgiving"    
        
     AND...here's a recipe for this weekend.
                   Orange Crates Sage and Savoury Stuffing recipe:

Recipe:
The night before cut one loaf of bread into 1 cm cubes and put into a big bowl and let sit over night to dry out.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180c).
For added flavour, take the turkey neck and giblets and boil with 2 cups of water for 15 minutes (set aside when done). Dice up 2 medium white onions and 4 stalks of celery and saute them in a pan with 1/2 cup butter for 10 minutes. Add the celery and onions mixture to the bread bowl along with 2 heaping tablespoons of 'Orange Crates Stuffing Seasoning'. Start by mixing in a couple of tablespoons of the water from the turkey neck stock and one lightly beaten egg. You can also add 1 additional tablespoon of the seasoning You want the mixture to stick together but not be sopping wet. Transfer to a baking dish and bake for 1 hour mixing at the halfway point.

For added flavour/texture: you can add diced apples, cranberries or crushed almonds.

Thai Coconut Curry recipe from Orange Crate


Recipe:
Thai Coconut Curry Chicken
(30 g)of Thai Coconut Rub
2 pounds of chicken breast, cut in small cubes
1 green pepper, 1 red pepper (cut into small triangle pieces)
1 carrot sliced into small pieces
1 bowl of green peas ( frozen ones are okay)
1 can (400ml) of coconut milk
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup of chicken broth

Directions:
Marinate the cubed chicken breast with Thai Coconut Rub for about an hour or two.

Heat a skillet in high heat, pour the cooking oil, brown the cubed chicken breast and add the rest of the Rub.

Add carrot, then pour in the coconut milk and chicken broth and stir for 5-7 mins.

Add the cut peppers & peas

Simmer in medium heat until the veggies are cooked to your liking
Serve with Jasmin rice and garnish with fresh lime wedges
